Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was raised and born within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mother is a former back-up singer at Philadelphia International Records. At the age of five, old, her father landed an appointment as the curator for Philadelphia's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the landmark historical building. The 2005 Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts student, she is a major in vocal music. Sullivan was first singing in the kids' chorus as a contralto, after which she was a part of the adult choir only a couple of years after that. Sullivan did not get exposed to the world of secular music for the first time. "I started singing solos in the church, and someone wanted me to sign up to record a gospel song when I turned 11. However, I was not ready to go through with it," she says. "Then when McDonald's had a competition for children in cities of the world and I was offered the chance to perform 'Accept what God Allows' on It's Showtime in the Apollo and the audience were very supportive". In the year 13 she sang along with Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday. Sullivan was first signed to Jive Records at the age fifteen. As a teenager She was signed by Jive Records. The label recorded her whole album at Jive Records, however it didn't get released. Sullivan was later dropped by the label. She maintained a working relationship with Missy Elliott, who produced many of the tracks for her debut project, like the huge hit track "Backstabbers" that was written and produced by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
